SCOUTING AMERICA PROGRAMS

… are Cub Scouts for children from Kindergarten through 5th grade, and Scouts BSA for youth from 10 to 18 years old. Scouting has been part of Zion for more than 80 years. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Meetings are held:

  • Cub Scouts: Monday evenings at 6:30pm we meet by the flag pole, during the regular school year - we follow the Effingham County School District Calendar.

  • Scouts BSA: Both our Boy and Girl Troops meet Thursday evenings at 6:30pm in the Scout Hut.

GIRL SCOUTS OF THE USA

… are of all backgrounds and abilities. Girl Scouts allow them to be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Girl Scouts work together to build a better world.

For more information on the Girl Scout Troop at Zion, please go to the Girl Scout Troop 30197 Web Page.

Meetings are held:

  • Check the Zion Calendar or the Troop 30197 web site for information on their upcoming meetings.

HOSANNA HELPERS

… is made up of caring people who have a heart to feed the hungry and stand beside the hurting. They have a core group of people who are there every Sunday in Forsyth Park from 12:30 - 2:00pm, sharing a meal and ministry. Hosanna Helpers meets by the Tennis Courts at the South end of Forsyth Park (Park Ave & Bull St). Meals are served around 1:00pm, after a message. There's lots of opportunity to serve by preparing part of the meal beforehand, serving it, helping at the bread ministry table, the clothes ministry or the hygiene table. Zion Lutheran is among the groups that support their work, both on-site and through donations.
